Plug wire placement question
Plug wire placement question
Is the Haynes manual wrong twice in the same section? My question is that the manual says the leading (lower) spark plug boots are blue and the trailing (upper) spark plugs boots are black. My plug wires were installed by Mazda and the lower ones are black and upper are blue. Can someone clear this up for me? Where are they supposed to go? And does it really matter which go to which?
side note: the other error I saw was the picture caption of the sparkplugs saying the leading plugs go into the upper spark plug holes, but the text part of the book says lower. How can you **** an important thing up like that in a book about an rx7
Anyway noticed this quite a few years back when I bought the book.

The leading plugs are the bottom ones, and use black wires(NGKs anyway). The trailing plugs are the upper ones, and use the blue wires, which match the two blue stripes on the plugs themselves. Just make sure the lead pack(at front of engine bay) is connected to the lower plugs, and the trailing packs(near firewall) are connected to the upper plugs. If I'm wrong, may I be struck by a bolt of lightning(but not right now i hope)!
If you want further confirmation, it's right how you have it hooked up. For reference:
Trailing - Top, BUR9EQ, Blue, coil close to firewall
Leading - Bottom BUR7EQ, Black, coil close to battery
