PLEASE someone help me!

Ok, I just put a new cone-style air filter on my car about on Tuesday 5-18. That day, while I was driving my car, I turned a corner and the car just died. It did this again later that day and attempted to once more that day, but when it attempted to just die, everything just shut off for a split second and my check engine light came on and then it just came back on. This happened in a split second. Ever since then, the problem has been getting worse. Now I could bareley make it home from my friend's house this morning. I will drive it and my check engine light flickers on and off and my car runs extremely rough, and I have to rev it to keep it going. Also there is a smell of exhaust and maybe some gas. When the guy at the auto store I bought my new filter at put my intake on, he took off the hose that I beleive goes from the stock air box to perhaps the air pump, and it is just sitting there now not connected to anything. Please help! My car is bareley driveable and I have to go to school and work and all that stuff tomorrow!

Please post your question in the title next time... I edited your title to reflect this

Your air flow meter plug is probably loose.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in a couple of times and it didn't help a bit.

Make sure all the hoses behind the intake are plugged in as well, the AFM and the two hoses on the plastic accordian shaped intake pipe, one of those came unplugged on me before and my car had the same problem.

That dangling hose goes to your air pump system and you should put a small cone like filter on it before you do damage to your engine. It also could be sucking in too much air and making your car too lean.Either remove your air pump system or put a filter on that hose. And also check to see if your Intake pipe is tight too.

Ok I just put the stock airbox back on and cleaned the AFM connector and she works like a charm. I am just going to save up and buy a nice intake that I will get my money's worth out of. So in that case... Who wants to buy a CP intake?

uh, the airpump doesnt put it into the engine, and its not going to suckin "too much" air because its monitor'd. The air pump pushes air into the cat causing it to run hotter. (i think this is how it works anyways)
