I checked out the coils, crank angle sensor, put in new plugs, fuel filter. I guess I need to just do a compression check, but Im scared to find out the results. So what kinds of symptoms does a broken seal have? My car sounds/runs like a volkswagon beetle, thats a perfect way to describe it.

 

Loss of compression J/K. The only way to be 100% sure is to face your fear and do a compression check. If your car is difficult to start (and is not flooding), then you may have lost compression. If you hear metallic chattering, or the engine just overall runs like a bag of hammers, then a compression check will tell you if its the apex or side seals.

 

my engine sounded like a lawnmower went I lost the rear rotor (apex seal)...hopefully you'll luck will be better than mine.
