Please ID these (fuel/emissions related)

Its been a while since I have looked at my car and Im having trouble ID'ing some lines. Unfortunately I cant jack It up to trace everything back.

I have just removed all the emissions and Im putting new fuel lines in. There is one from the fuel filter to the primary (one on block right?) fuel rail, then from secondary to "the metal nipple on the firewall".

Which one is it lol?

Green is from the filter to the rail.
Note charcoal canister removed. Pretty sure its number 2 but still would like to know what 1 is.

Cheers

Yup...

#1 = Evaporative (Fumes) line. - Hook it to the charcoal canister. If you don't you have the following problems:

-Car will always smell like fuel
-Fumes will evaporate from the tank, just like leaving the cap off or spilling some of your fuel (Waste of money)
-Potential fire hazard

#2 = Fuel return - Connect to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

Green is your fuel supply.

man I was wondering why your EVAP line looked weird... then I saw you are in NZ, so it must be right hand drive. From my experience, venting the EVAP line and deleting the charcoal canister isn't a big deal as far as the gasoline smell goes. To each his own though. Could your #2 line and the green line be switched because it's right hand drive? I know the rails are different... watch out for that.

Sweet as, thanks for the info. I'll just plumb #1 down and attach #2 tomorrow.

Did all the vac lines today (after emissions removal) and there are 2... Can help but think I'm missing some. I'll attack it again tomorrow.

Cheers

well think about what happens to a gas can when you have no vent. you will have trouble filling up the gas.

^

Also, if you fill up at night when it's cold and the sun comes up, where is the fuel going to go when it warms up and expands?

It's going to push out that line.

The charcoal canister isn't that heavy.

Im not really worried about weight. The evap. system is still in place... Was just working on removing my emissions and cleaning up my engine bay a little... was trying to think of things i could remove to reduce clutter.

I have my evap line vented (charcoal can delete). I don't find the gas smell particularly noticeable.
