please help me guys im almost finished with the rebuild.. about the apex seal
hey guys everything was going fine until one out of the 6 new 3 piece apex seal came apart as i was opening the bag.. for you guys that have gotten the rebuild kit before you will know that the 3 piece apex seals actually come in a 2 piece with the little triangle connected to one of the apex seal bars.
Anyways i opend the box and the lil triangle thingy fell off.. i thought it wouldn't be a big deal until after puting on the second rotor hosuing and puttign teh small and bigger apex seals springs i didnt hear the CRACK noise you hear/feel when putting on the springs inside the apex seal grovves..
anyways i went on to finishing up the other springs.. and at the end like an ******* i raised the rotor and boom the apex seal which had the triangle lose/broken off went everywhere the springs jumped in the air and the long spring went inside the engine and all hell broke loose i took the rotor housing out very delicatly and found the apex seal spring thank god i put the rotor housing back but now i dont know what to do? should i just put the rotor back and dont wory about making that clicking sound?? wouldnt it be loose .. could the triangle piece of the apex dammage teh housing sinc eis not connected before teh engine first fired? i mean im going to college in 5 days!! i need to get the car in teh road thanx guys so much for your help!!

First, lay the 3 pieces on a flat panel and use some sort adhesive ( I used Krazy Glue) for the triangle piece.
After all are done, install them in the groove. Carefully place the rotor in the housing. First install the small piece (apex seal) then the larger one with the triangle piece. As you place you thumb on the triangle piece, stick in the small apex spring then the larger one. You will hear a "click" when it's seated. I used a flathead screwdriver to push it in and an old spring to push it in further. Do that for all 6 sides and make sure before you seal everything up, do a walkaround or count to see everything is in.

If you don't have an old apex spring, use something that will fit into the gap to push the spring in.
You should use some sort of rag or anything to cover the coolant passages in case the triangle piece does pop off. You don't want the piece to fall into the passage because you will have to disassemble the housing to get to it.

The use of adhesive is to keep the triangle piece in place. Don't worry about the piece being stuck on there. It won't. When you tighten the tension bolts, make sure you do it in sequence and half torque then final torque (30 lbs.) so it seats evenly.
Just remembered. For the small apex spring don't worry about it being seated. When you push in the large piece, the small one will seat itself.

Use the glue only on the triangle. This is just to keep the piece in place when you assemble the springs and housings. That is the only reason and nothing else. You don't need to wait for it to dry. It's instant. Make sure you compress the triangle piece when you assemble the intermediate and end plates.

Don't worry about the pieces being permanently glued because it won't. The glue will eventually disintegrate from the heat when it's running. I've always used the glue to keep it in place. Spray some oil around the rotors and housings to keep it wet and lubricated.
Before starting the engine, pull out the plugs, crank it a few seconds to purge the system and to blow out contaminants , install the plugs and should start right up. Since you have a fresh engine, you should use distilled water. Remember the white residue in the coolant passages? That's from tap water.
