Please Help Me

today i was just starting to put in a new clutch. but one of the crossmember bolts on the passager side of the car is striped. The head of the bolt is not striped but the bolt spinns freely, and i can't just pull it out, i tried.

has this happened to anyone eles?
I can't figure out how to get that stupid bolt off and i need my car right now. please help if you have any idea of what i should do thanks

Try to get something (like offset needle-nosed pliers) under the head and apply upwards (downwards if you're under the car looking up) pressure while turning the bolt. If she's stripped this tactic may help it to "skip" up the stripped thread and start unthreading normally...

i just tried that and it did not work.

when i turn the bolt it feels like what ever it is in is turning also when i turn the bolt. And when i wiggle it back and forth i hear something clicking as if whatever the bolt is swrewed into is broke and it is twisting with the bolt.

and it that is true how the hell am i going to get that out. us a cutting torch. if i do that i will never be able to put another bolt there

Sounds like the weld/tack that was holding the nut inplace broke and the nut is just free-spinning.

1st.....speed helps, try to use the described technique of prying backwards on the head of the bolt. While prying use your drill or impact to turn the bolt. the rapid Spinning may help it catch.

2nd.....Its in a hollow area. You could use your drill and drill out a few holes close together in a cirlcular pattern and then cut between the holes leaving a big hole so you could get a wrench in there.

Your in a tough spot. I know it sucks when your trying to another job and you have to stop and fix this side job on the way

so are you saying drill the holes through the floor board just below the dash board. to expose the hollow area.

Thumbs up Removing bolt

I've dealt with this before. I used a large flat head screwdriver to pry down on it.
I used a electric impact to remove it, it came right off. Just keep steady downwards pressure on it with the screwdriver. Easier if you have someone hold you while you hit it with impact gun. rx7doctor

No...from underneath. I mean, I not there to see it. I am just throwing something your way to try to get you thinkin' in the direction thats forward. Your in a pinch and you gotta do something drastic.

That nut on the inside is of no use. Once you get the bolt out the nut will go who knows where. You'll need to get at that nut. Somehow!! If you cut open the area that its in, maybe use a scroll saw with a metal cutting blade and then have it welded back in place at the body shop???

This is the worst advice I have ever given but.....I feel bad for you. I am trying anything, maybe the gurus have seen this b4??
