Please Help with ignition timing Q

Ok, i followed the intructions according to the manual...

i've successfully aligned the front trailing-side high tension lead - the pin is dead centre with the red indicator.

but when i go to use the timing gun on the front leading side high tension lead basically its like the gun dosnt work? there is no flash. - this means there is no power coming from the coil/igniter?? - what should i do?

Most inductive timing guns do not work reliably with the FC ignition system.

You can try and move the pick-up closer to the spark plug.

If that doesn't work, confirm it's firing by pulling the spark plug boot off the spark plug and putting it close to a known good ground point.  For some reason the longer spark easily triggers most timing guns.
At the very least, you can confirm it's firing.

Inductive timing Light

In my manual it says the timing light has to be an inductive type but should be powered ooof the car battery and not self powered ?

but i got it to work...

i simply pushed in all the leads into the spark plugs to make sure they were in properlly also made sure they were all properlly connected on the coil side...

then i tried the gun again.. and guess what? it works...

timing is now perfect!

cheers,
Jose.
