I don't have a picture. The part is a small black sensor. It's the size of a dime but rectangular. It has one wire coming out of the side that has a single terminal that connects to the wiring harness. It attaches to a bolt on the drivers side - back of the engine just below the oil filter.

I can't find it in any of the FSM or other books. My car is a 90 S5 Vert. The wire is severed so I need another one.

You know, I saw that hanging loose when I was working on my starter today, what the heck is it?

 

I believe they are called grounding resistors

 

a capacitor for the oil pressure sender.

 

OK, what about the other three? In front of the brake master cyclinder (on shock tower), passenger shock tower, and next to the battery box. I'm pretty sure that's where they came from, don't care it's a parts car.

 

not sure about those, the only one i know of and has been brought up more than any other is the one for the oil pressure sender as it bolts to the transmission and rarely gets put back into its original spot and often times is found hanging in the engine bay.

 

I was told it helps the oil pressure gauge get a better reading. For me it has just become a non essential part.

 

There's one more of those capacitors that is under the trail coil assy and is tied to the black/yellow wire that feeds 12vdc to the coil assy's.
