i have 89 GXL with power sunroof. It was stuck when i bought it. But sunroof motor made noise when i pushed buttons. I used hand crank and was able to get right side to raise completely and slide back a 1/2" . left side makes no noise and only raises 3/4 of the way up and front left corner appears to be stuck so it binds up when other side starts moving back. I can now get it to do the amount of movement as listed above by power buttons and buttons will also close it. has anyone else had this problem, or know what could cause this? Thanks.

 

The cables could be messed up. Well, at least that' what was wrong with mine when it got stuck (but I could hear the motor whining). If you feel so inclined, you can remove your headliner, then unbolt your sunroof assembly and check it out.
