I believe they need to be switched.

Wait for a few others to speak up, I may be wrong. It's been a while since I've had to mess with anything under the hood.

The one with the green check valve and the black hose is going to the double throttle diaphram as it should. Go to http://iluvmyrx7.com and go to the technical section and download the factory manual. The section of the manual that is relevant is 4A. It shows the forward tit on the water thermo valve having its hose just like yours. The rear tit should be going to a vaccum source. Look at page 58 in section 4A at the above site. Make sure the check valve is going in the right direction.

is there anybody out there who's kind enough to take a picture of this area in your car so I can compare it with my setup.

Can't help with a picture but will describe it in less than a thousand words.Look at your throttle body from the front of the car, find the No2 secondary throttle shaft(it's on the left as you look at the T/B from the front),attched to the shaft is a vacuum actuator, the vac hose attaches to the little pipe on the actuator.Ensure your check valve is installed per Hailers.

I was at work when I wrote the first post so I could not look at my car which is a 87. I just looked. It seems the blue and black hose are connected right. Next to my blue hose I have one large pipe that is capped off and on the other side of the blue hose there is a smaller pipe that is capped off. I believe they are meant for an automatic transmission car . So the fellow who said it should be capped was right. Right? Good photos. Helps. EDIT......when I talk about the three pipes I mean the ones on the rear intake runner about six inches directly below the water thermo device.

I just re-read my second post. Its muddled. Here we go.....You have the blue and black hose connected properly. In the second picture you show an open pipe. That pipe should have a plastic cap on it. THERE! If you do not have a plastic cap handy, get a piece of vac hose, shoot a dab of that rtv into one end, let it set up , and install an hour or so later. Just has to be an inch or less in length. Good photos.

Ok, I already found out what that little pipe in the second picture is for. It's for the cruise control, if you have one. But since I don't use my cruise control anyway, I took off the whole assembly unit and disconnected the cable from the TB and capped off the pipe. So now, I can use that small extra space for other stuff.
