Hey guys!..i hope someone can help me with this...The other night i had a flat tire(right rear)which resulted in me riding on the rim approx.1/4 mile..I now have a mild whirling sound coming from the rearend..Icant pinpoint it to the right rear because it sounds like its coming from the center of the rearend...This whirling.which is progressively getting louder only occurs under load and decel in all gears except neutral. I,m leaning towards bearings, but i dont wanna guess.cuz these parts are expensive for our cars..all parts for that matter...1 more thing..sry so long...Does a bad rear wheel bearing whirl in neutral??...I wanna fix this problem asap...i dont wanna hurt my baby...OH! its an 88 NA vert..lsd rear....Thanks for any and all input fellows...happy rotoring.........
um... you're not supposed to ride the rim.. you probably gouged a bearing/raise in the hub. And the parts aren't expensive, the bearings won't cost more than $20.
You don't want to hurt your baby yet you drive on a flat tire for a quarter mile? Seriously... either cary a tire and jack or pay the $3.00/mo for AAA.
