what year is this car? You said you have the intake ported but not the motor? I'm very interested in your #'s because I'm at the same point awaiting some dyno time, but I have a heavily ported n/a and my halmeter reads lean most of the time.

S5's tend to fatten up with mods and the S4's lean out. I was hoping you had the same series as I do. Oh well... I hope you like the headers. I know I kicked some major rice *** just from doing them alone.

Dyno header vs Streight pipe

Ok I just got back from the dyno. Heres the difference between a streight pipe stock manfold - header , pre-silencer.

I went from 141.8rwp to 154.4 rwp. I was in shock. The entire RPM range was moved up evenly and consistently to the old graph. Only everything was higher

My gain was 13 RWP or around their.

The graph im showing has the comparisons between my second run with S-AFC setting that went to high , the car either lost power or we shut down early for some reason I forgot. Anyways we stoped at 149 hp compared to 141 wich is a solid 8 rwp gain on that run. I didnt even advance the timing or finish the S-AFC settings.
I went outragiously high on the S-AFC and spiked to 15.2 A/F % so I backed down. Lost some power to. Next run I went to -12% wich was good for the mid range but the top end droped back down to 12 A/F ratio. This A/F ratio you will not see because I dont have it but onthat run it showed an even 4 rwp gain throught the entire band but we couldnt pick up past 6.5k beacause of bad pickup or interference with the wires. So I didnt print that one out. If this climb continued I would have seen a 158 rwp with stock timing. Hopefully next time I go down their with better clutch , ported TB , Ignition and timing tricks and S-AFC set higher I will hit 160rwp. Not bad at all. Hope I cleared up some header vs Streigt pipe misconceptions. The reason why I gained so much in my opinion is because of all my intake mods that I wasnt seing thier full potential because of the stock manifold. Anyways the gain is very much worth it but I didtnt feel much of a difference only because the power band was so evenly spread and looked just like the last graph. Notice how I gained low end!!! yeah go figure.

More dyno

Jeff at autoteck motorsports said that the shaky top end in the graph was due to mabey my slipping clutch. Otherwise its fine and very accurate he says.

Dynos

On the second graph above I conected the two lines that the ignition dyno wires did not pick up. So I bridged them at the very end. You can see how my power doesent drop off even at 8k but thats were I shut down because it just gets scary at that rpm...

This guy named evil rotor saw 63% on his S-AFC and made 146 rwp but I made 154.4 rwp at around 52 wich means you cant determine power using air flow to a certain extent. I guess. Anyways notice on this graph how at 14.9 and 15.2 A/F % (not shown) I lost power and the car didnt sound healthy at those A/F % ( jeff noticed )
At 14.2 was the best. Next run I will be shooting for 13.5-14 flat across the board and make 160 rwp hopefully. I will keep posted with you guys. thnx

Von, ready yet? Whats up? Glad to hear you got a pretty big gain from the headers. So its not too loud yet huh? I think you should hear my car lol. Well whenever you're ready let me know, theres also a couple S5 guys who might have some questions for you (regarding AFC tuning). After we race I can retire from the drag circuit undefeated and concentrate on the mountains

Does'nt you car feel alot funner to drive? The other day, I set all my settings back to 0% across the entire range. You wanna talk about a slug! Try putting them back to 0% after a couple weeks, and see how you like it Von. Nice numbers. CJ
