Please don't kill me...
Well pls don't kill me for asking this question. And yes I have searched.
How much does it cost (approximately) to do a TII swap (by yourself, meaning that this cost is only for parts)? It seems that nobody can give a figure in previous posts...I mean, they're all over the board.
And what kind of "special" tools do you need, besides the obvious engine hoist?

About:
$1-$1.5K: Engine
$300: Decent, but not perfect tranny
$200: LSD
$600: Driveshaft, half-shafts, etc
$200: Gauges
$300: Exhaust
$400: Good clutch
$?: The value of all the time it will take, and frustrations you will endure as parts get lost, or don't fit, or are on backorder, engine dosen't run, etc.
And some nickel and dime stuff.
The lesson....Buy a TII.

Thank you turbosmoke. I have a buddy called "SonikRat" around here and he is doing this very swap. He is having a lot of problems. It took his engine 6 weeks longer than it was supposed to, he ordered a S5 engine, but got a S4, took a week figuring out the vaccuum hoses, and the last I heard, it is STILL not running. It is a REAL HUGE pain in the ***.

I would jump on that if you are serious. Also, Hypntyz is the ****!! All of his stuff I have seen (like the auto to 5-speed tranny bracket) are of high quality.

Dude you serious hypntyz7? I mean, 1500? That's a crazy price.
Rico, I have a vert, and I love the sun too much to buy a coupe...so there. Sorry.
How long does it usually take for you to install it, hypntyz? Coz I am in L.A. right now, and I wouldn't mind driving to Tennesse if it doesn't take too long...

I'll have a Coke!
go here:
http://2ndgenrx7.freeservers.com/techmaster.html
and select the "NA to TII swap" page from the left. I completely agree with them, you are better off selling your NA and getting a TII, unless you have a 'vert.

$1500, yeah, that's right.
I can do it in a long 12 hour day, but I like to allot 2 days in case something comes up. Also it sometimes takes a few hours of tinkering to get one to idle the way you'd like, etc.
The server is down temporarily, it goes up and down...check back in a day or 2.
For 91 na-t2, you'll need to source those parts...engine w/flywheel, wiring harness, ecu, boost sensor, knock control box. These are 89-91 t2 specific, and something that I dont have. IF you bring me that stuff, well the same rules apply.

I am actually swapping my good 91 engine into a good S5 body (my 91 has $2k in body damage). I am then planning on rebuilding a S5 TII engine and doing a TII swap into my old chassis. For a vert, a TII swap is a definatly cool idea!!! Good luck!!!
