Plastic Striping removal?

Plastic Striping removal?
Well its almost time to paint the car and I really dont know what to do about the black plastic striping all around the car. So I would like to see what some of you did. If anyone has any pics they can post them.

I personally think its ugly and makes the car look cheaper. (on the 86-88) But I have seen it painted over on some cars and it looks pretty bad like there are ripples.

Let me know what ya think!

Edit: I posted in 2 areas to see what kind of response I get.

I've been wanting to see a car with the grooves bondo'ed. I figured it would look real clean, but for now I say just paint everything the same color.

Unless you TIG weld in a filler strip of metal you will look forward to seeing cracks

Yes, don't bondo them, it WILL Crack, you can also fiberglass, their is a thread I read a while back about a guy that fiberglassed all of his, and it turned out really well, but I am not sure how durable and how long it will hold wihout cracking. But welding a metal strip over it is probably the best way. Or just paint them the same color as your car.

I wonder if I put enough layers of paint on, it will fill in the gaps and make the moldings look smoother...

You could always remove the black molding and replace it with the front s5 bumper and s5 molding... thats what pat is doing to the white car. but your best bet would just be to paint over the old moldings it looks better and smoother
