plans for NA FC come spring

since my school gives us access to lifts and tools and stuff, i figure i'd work on my car...duh
i drive an 88 SE
here's what i have planned

racingbeat heavy duty street/strip disc and pressure plate
racingbeat aluminum flywheel
rb presilencer, new non-rusted y-pipe, and some cheap ebay fartcans until i can afford better ones (OEM are rusted through)
new rotors and pads
and a CAI from one of the write-ups i've read around here, i've already made it, just have to cut through the metal and put it all in

i've read that with similar mods other people's na fc have felt a lot quicker..
after that i hope to do a full emissions removal later on in the spring

what do you guys think? any ideas on different parts or anything?

thanks in advance

There are a variety of options you can take. Do you want to stay N/A? or are you willing to go turbo at some point? How much power are you looking to make? What is the current mileage on the car? Compression? How much are you willing to spend, and how much do you have to spend/or are able to spend?

Once you figure out what kind of power your looking for, and how much you have to work with, you can decide on what route to take.

the motor was recently rebuilt, around 20k ago
runs strong, no problems with the motor at all

car has almost 140k on the clock
i do not plan on going turbo with this car any time in the near future

i've got about $1k to spend
and i've already got the exhaust components minus the mufflers

i've thought about forced induction, and i'd love to do it, but not any time soon
i'd like to get the most i can out of this motor, and then when it's time to rebuild, keep it NA again

If I were you I would put my money into the suspension. You car will not be able to do much in NA form. If you upgrade the suspension you can out handle the other guys with ease. I would say get some new struts/springs, f/r strut bars, and a energy suspension kit. That will be your 1000 dollars but it will feel like a new car. Best perfomance mod I ever did. Forget clutches, brakes, and flywheels for now.

i've got eibach springs and tokico illumina's already, the car feels like it's on rails...to me anyway
a little bouncy, but handles well
i've never ridden in a car with coilovers or anything...

strut tower braces for the front and rear have already been thought about
i want to do the clutch and flywheel and stuff now because i'm already in need of a new clutch, so since the trans will be out i can just do everything in one shot

thanks for the idea though
i did plan on getting strut bars and looking into sway bars, but not until i can make some more $$$!!!

if you want sway bars just find ones from a convertible. I have a turbo vert and I bought RB sways thinking they would be a upgrade but they were the same size and weight of the vert sways. Get yourself a energy suspension kit. They are like 99 bucks. You want the black one not the red. Black has grafite in them to stop the squeaks during break in. This kit will replace all those worn out rubber fittings. I just used a torch to burn the old ones out.
