Pineapple Racing Yoohoo belt?

Anybody tried this belt? Im not sure If I wanna go double sheaved pulley. I cant do the side mount alt. cause I still have a/c for the hot, humid Alabama summers. My entire front of the engine bay is coated in black powder where it has eaten through 2 belts. Just wondering if this belt is good as they claim it to be.

it works but it is hardly great, requires you to loosen/remove the pulleys to get the belt on. you can get them at your local auto parts store but i can't remember the length off hand at the moment.

ya its basically a normal one.....if you are running a dual pulley then just get two new belts (same length) and put em on.....no need to get some special belt for it.

Edit: i know they have the corect belts at the NAPA in Pelham....if youre near there

it's just a normal V-belt but for lawn tractor applications, very short.

what the hell does pineapple describe it as?

theres nothing magical about it, it just gets full coverage on the water pump pulley for when you've removed the air pump and are now missing 50% of the water pump coverage you had before.

It's a low-cost solution to a real problem that *works*, so what if it's not fancy.

"This clever little belt goes over the main and water pump pulleys, eliminating water pump slipping when you are not running an air pump. Overtightening the alternator to get rid of the slipping is bad for the engine and accessory bearings, plus you can break belts. The popular double sheave alternator pulleys are a bad idea because it can be nearly impossible to find two nominally correct belts the exact same length, so either one slips or one is overtightened and may break. Double sheave setups have the additional drawback that when one belt breaks, it usually takes out the other belt too. A Yoohoo Belt, on the other hand, gives almost 180º contact with both the main and water pump pulleys without a great deal of tension. If the alternator belt breaks, for whatever reason, you can drive a lot father without the alternator than you ever could without the water pump! To install the Yoohoo Belt, you place it over one pulley and "walk" it onto the other pulley; there is no tensioning adjustment. Quick and easy and far less expensive than a double sheave pulley. "

To me they made it sound like it was something special.

You don't have to loosen any pulleys. You can put it partially on and pry a little bit while manually turning over the engine and it pops it into place. It remains very tight and is quite simple to do.

I've ran both the "yoohoo" belt as well as the dual alt pulley. I had more success with the "yoohoo" because the dual alt pulley took more adjusting to get it right and retightening over the course of a couple days. Although both worked just fine for me in the long run.

Yep, the dual belt does require re-tightening. They no longer make matched sets for pretty much anything, so 2 of the same belts are going be slightly different sizes.

Does anyone have a pic of this thing installed?

I never saw it on Pineapples site before....

Yes, there is a pic on the package, but I just don't see how you can have two sheaths on the water pump and crank, and then still get another one onto the alt.?? It doesn't add up to me, Im sure it works, I'd just like to see a pic of it ON a car

I don't think you understand how it works...

when using a yahoo belt you will only have one belt on the alternator pulley.

the belt is used when you don't have an air pump installed, it goes where the air pump belt used to go - over the main pulley air pump sheave and the second sheave on the water pump pulley. Thats all it does.

It's 'special' because it's a small belt and theres no adjustment possible you just force it onto the two pulleys and that's all there is to it...

I ran this before, if you search "yoohoo" and my name I think I posted a part number for the belt from NAPA somewhere on this site.

And I even have some pictures.

No no, I get it - but on the picture Pineapple has on their website it looks like the Yoo hoo belt is two belts wide, which is why I asked for pictuers.

Plus, I just wanted to see out of all the people who gave the product ****, how many had actually....really...tried it.

wow. yea that is a lawn mower belt, get the part numbers for one and head to a lawn equiptment shop and see if you can get one. or take the measurements off your 7 and have them look up a belt like that which happens to match the measurements.
another option is this place. i have been eyeballing these latley
