Question Pimp My Ride: Please help with Exterior Mod Suggestions

Hi All,

I have a 2nd Gen, but always loved the look of the 3rd gen. My mechanic knows how I get weak in the knees when I see a 3rd gen and lectures me about what a pain they are and that the 2nd gen rules (engine wise that is). That said, I'm gonna have a little extra cash soon, and I'd love to get my 2nd gen fixed up: new paint, dings removed, etc... I've been looking around and don't really see any pics of well done 2nd gens. Can anyone recommend a good site for me to see? I'm thinking to get new front end, fenders, maybe headlights, and definitely a beautiful set of new wheels. I'd appreciate any direction anyone could give me. My mechanic rocks, but he's not into body work, so I'm kinda on my own here in Gainesville, FL. Has anyone out there really fixed up their 7s interior and exterior so that it's jaw dropping? Well, that's my plan....

Thanks in Advance,

Turbodawn

goto ebay, you'll find lots of stuff like that. Just type in for example: 86 rx7 and youll find everything you need. I bought my bodykit and other stuff from ebay and am very satisfied with the product I get from these company's selling on ebay.

Thumbs up Thanks Snowball

Thanks for the link! OMG, the car that belongs to Carl Bycks is SWEET. So now I need to find out where he got all the parts. I haven't finished looking, I might find others I like as well. Thanks!

Jawdropping:

Eriksseven is just classy as they get.
Carl Bycks is jaw dropping.
BoostinmyS5 is more what I had in mind for me.

I don't like a lot of the wide body kits, as they are just too boxy, so it looks like I may just have to take my 7 to a bodyshop with some pics and let them do the work. I like nice big curvy fenders. Emphasis on the curve (not boxed). I just need to look through the pics again for the skirts I like. I want to accentuate the way the car looks, not change it altogether, although if someone wants to try to get my car to look like Carl Bycks, I might just let them.

Hey another gainesville dude

who is your mechanic BTW?
you dont need crazy body kit or anything to make your car jaw dropping, look for pics of my car , no extreme body kit but it gets plenty of attention.

Red face Notta Dude

Hi Gergrx7,

I'm not a dude, I'm a 43 year old lady. Actually, should be obvious that I'm not "old" per se, as I love my 7 and my Harley. Do you really have to ask who my mechanic is? OMG! Quinn Holton, who else? I guess I better watch it. For all I know, I'm talking to Pete's son from Pete's garage. I assume you're young by the location where your pics were taken (I can tell it's UF parking lot). Well it's really nice to meet you. I always wave at other 7 drivers, but not everyone who drives one appreciates what they have. Anyone you can recommend to do body work on my car? I can always ask Quinn too, but I'm trying to get a feel for who the go to guy is in our area.

Are you a member of the local 7 group? Do you go to the meetings?

Dawn

I agree about not needing too much. The most attention I've seen a 7 get was my buddys 89TII after it had a really nice CYM paint job on it. It also had the black pinstriped interior from a 90GXL and just some clean 16" aftermarket rims. He got so much attention in that car. Best $2500 on it he ever spent.

Another forum member has it now I think, I haven't seen it around in forever.

Does anyone know what front fenders are on Byck's car? Those are the only front widebody fenders I've seen that don't look like ***.

hahahaha yes i am Pete's son, my name is Greg. There are not really any good body shops in town, so i dont konw who to recommend to you. I hear there are some good places in jacksonville. There are some local groups in town but there are not many 7's that go out there. thursdays near ale house at 10:30 a bunch of car people meet up there. I go most weeks. Maybe see you out there.
