Pilot Bearing,Pilot Bushing..

Double Checking.I have to replace my Clutch soon..Is a Pilot Bearing and a Pilot Bushing the same?..If you install the Bearing,is there a Seal that you have to Install too?..and If you Install the bushing do you just install a Bushing, but no seal..(I'm assuming the two "are" different" and that People are not referrring to a bearing as a bushing)..Thanks Guys as Always.Misterstyx69

Does your pilot bushing look like that pilot bearing?

Also, there's a "Pilot Bearing Seal" that goes along with it... looks like you do need a seal. Hopefully you put one in liquidferrum .

They do the same job, support the transmission main shaft. The RX-7 uses a bearing and a seal, while some other manufacturer's use a bushing and no seal.

I could have swore that when I pulled the engine out of my 88,it had a Bushing, not a bearing(I do know the difference ..haha),but the engine was not Original..(I think 85 EFI)..I am replacing the clutch in a 86 (13b N/A..original engine..)..I guess Now is the time to ask..If I pull the Tranny..are the Bushings and the Bearings interchangeable?..(meaning,IF I find a pilot Bearing in there, can I put a Pilot Bushing in as a replacement? Vise-Versa?)..I will know what the engine that I pulled had, double check it tonight(in storage)..I just don't want to have the Wrong Part, once the Tranny is off..My parts guy has had a hard time filling my order lately..Thanks again Guys..Appreciate all the info so far..Very Informative.
