Pictures of bottom exit true dual exhuast

Well, it all looks really good but is reall F#$king loud. The mufflers are spintech and it took me about 5 hours to built, with my brother doing the welding. And I would say that it is about 20-50 decibles quiter that an RX-7 with no cat back on it. If that gives anyone an idea of how incredibly loud it is. But any questions or comments are welcome.

Thanks, Cory

Yeah you did say loud, but I about **** my pants when I heard it start up, I thought I forgot to bolt the mufflers on and I was sitting there in awww, wondering how it is this loud with a set of mufflers.

But it runns pretty good, it still has no idle and I now have wired open 5th and 6th ports becasue I didn't install the backpressure pipe that came off the main cat. And I really don't think it has hardly any back pressure anyways. And I honestly didn't get to open it up, becasue I didn't have any ear pluggs . And my mom would have gripped at me for a week for driving to fast.

I give em 5 days before they start to rattle or blow up altogether. I have replaced enough mufflers ...... n e who looks like a damn good job though! Very nice set up. Please keep us posted as to how it pulls and sounds.

20-50db quieter? That's either 100x quieter than open, or 100,000 times quieter. Quite a difference!

Out of curiosity...why you decide against a side-exit? No room?

How bad is the exhaust fumes at a stop? For example if you the McDonalds drive thru or a long stop light do the gasses get to bad?

Well for that I mostly set it up, and he did all the welding, becasue I can't weld for anything

I would put a $50 bet that these will last at least 1 year. They have very little baffling and are built very strong.

Out of curiosity...why you decide against a side-exit? No room?

I couldn't go out the side becasue if you get down level with the car on the ground, all you can see is a very small part of the turn down. So to go out the side it would have to have more bends then it is worth doing. Tommorow I will get a picture that shows how tucked up against the car they are. I could go over any speed bump and the sub-frame rails would rubb before the mufflers would touch.

How bad is the exhaust fumes at a stop? For example if you the McDonalds drive thru or a long stop light do the gasses get to bad?

I had the windows down and the sunroof open and I didn't smell any exhaust at all, but I think the wind was blowing, and today is the first time that I have even had it on the car. But I have also replace the three rubber boots that go around the shifter, so with the windows up, no exhaust will come in anyways.

And sorry for the long post, but I wanted to answer those questions.

I don't drive my car that much so I know they will last much longer than 2 weeks, but once I get tags on it. And start driving it on the road, I would put money on it that they will last much longer than that. You are not seeing how over built these things are, the steel is 1 size thinner than the RB headers, and they have very low if any back pressure.

I woudln't leave them ending there.... you might as well just exit them out the rear. it's not gona make any diff. power wise. you are just gona heat up the bottom of your car. and have a posible fire hazzard.

You seem to think that backpressure is what will cause them to burn out/ explode. As far as I know it has little to do with that. the mufflers are extremely close to the powerful pulses/heat/flames that come from our little dorrito powered engine. My car shoots flames with the true duals on it and they go out for about 2-3 feet now picture how big they will be under the car that close to the headers. That is also a fire hazard since the flames will shoot down or back **** will heat up and could catch fire man.

I say 2 months max. :d

am i the only one concerned that the high heat / flames is a HUGE hazard?

even w/o the possibility of flames, 'bottom' exit is dangerous!!!!!

edit : ok santiago brought up the flame concern..

you should just extend the pipes out the side
oh, and to right in front of the rear wheels, so that when you put slicks on, they will heat up from the exhaust and get really grippy.

also, (not sure if this has been mentioned, I didn't read the whole thing) when you are stting at a stop light or something, the exhaust fumes will go up to inside the car, and could possibly make you sick, or even kill you.
I know a kid who's mom died from exhaust fumes. that's bad ****.

EDIT: I just realized everythng I just said has been covered

however, I doubt you won't be able to smell any fumes with all the windows up. there's always some place where it will leak in.

They look cool as all hell though.. I'm not too up to date on exploding mufflers, but it seems to make sense. Be carefull there Cory. We don't wanna hear sad fire stories.

I am going to have to mount our camera under my car and make a video and see how big the flames are. I know it has to be shooting them, becasue today when I drove it for the first time, I was at like 1,000 RPM's listening to the little bastartd that sounded like a chevy with a big old cam, and I dropped in from 4th at 1,000 RPM's to 2nd and it started backfiring like crazy. That kinda got me real happy when I heard that, and I was just dreaming of the flames under the car

And I just went out and took more pictures so as soon as I have them published to the web I will post them, and you guys will see why they don't come out the side. And I also have the factory aerodynamics kit. So I didn't want the heat from the exhaust to melt the rubber piece in front of the tires.

And I've had my fair share of rotor fire's, I had a car that I used for the engine and the exhasut system (stock) caught on fire twice, and glowed organge every time it ran for longer than 5-10 minutes.

true.. but ****, he made them himself (well, him and his brother). I'm just impressed. I know I wouldn't be able to fabricate something like that. And they look great for homemade.

In the first one, you can see how it is tucked up in there, and you can see it very well in the second picture to. But what is funny is that every thing just seemed to fit perfect, and really didn't give any trouble. If you look at the second picture and see how the floor board actuall steps over, and the muffler on the passengers side just fell right into that indent.

And I was also going to make both exhaust even lengths, but since, the muffler on the passengers side is blocked by the floor board I couldn't do that.

Other than the safety and longevity issues already mentioned, I would also like to point out that the pipes need to be the same volume (same length if you want to simplify) in order for the engine to run well. Assuming the header pipes are the same length, you need to add a little more pipe on one of those mufflers. You can stagger them if you like (see attached pic). No need to change anything now, but it's something to consider when those mufflers blow out in two weeks. Anyway, it looks like your project turned out pretty well.
