Picture request & question: Front E-shaft themostat

Does anyone have a picture of the thermo valve locaed in the front E-shaft pulley bolt? Also, if the spring behind it was worn, would it have an effect on oil presure? What if the valve were replaced with a solid pellet, would spring tension matter then? Thanks

see if this will work for you:

Spring tension needs to be on it, but I would think a little worn shouldn;t be an issue.

Bad spring doesn't really matter.
A bad spring would allow the pellet to shift back and forth.

Thanks Ted, I have the syptoms of a failed pellet ( almost 0psi at idle, and a max pressure of ~5500rpms at close to 4k, never rises from there). I have the E-shaft thermo valve replaced with a pellet, and I have replaced the front cover O-ring, as well as the OPR on the rear iron. Still have my problem. Any suggestions?

Order that front spring under the front cover

I picked mine up today from Mazda brand new, hope my oil pressure problems get fixed this Friday when I have time to replace everything.

Other than that the FSM also mentions the oil cooler bypass valve spring, the oil pan pickup, and oil pump gear in addition to what you've done, so I'd be checking all of those things (and the front spring) next.

You can also take out the front spring and measure it to make sure it's within spec, if it's not that might be the problem.

Yea I will order that spring ASAP. I got the part number from mazdatrix, its not listed on their website. If anyone else was looking , here is the part number for the oil pressure control valve spring, which is located on the bottom of the front cover.

RELIEF VALVE SPRING 14-273A-0839 $5.19

Also, where is the oil cooler bypass valve? I cant find it in the FSM. IS it in Lubrication systems?

*edit* - NM I found it
