Wow - this is the cleanest interior I've ever seen:

I'm a bit suspicious about a GTU with only 45K, but it's "perty".

Hey that's a good point. I don't remember any GTU models with an automatic. Wonder if they re-badged it?

WTF? Auto '89-'91 RX-7's only had a 7k RPM redline? I didn't know that.

Also, it looks like the car has an aftermarket cruise control system installed.

Nice car, I would even consider buying it. Would make a great daily driver.

90 GTU = GXL in earlier years

P.S. I hate those rims even though they are made by Enkei

Incorrect...

'90 GTU = base model in earlier years

In '90 they made a GXL model. If that model had once been a GXL it would have a leather interior, a rear glass wiper, stock cruise control, power windows, and power door locks.

I don't like those rims much either.

I have an '89 gxl parts car that is not leather but the seats are a little different than the ones in those pics.It did have all the other stuff you mentioned plus the auto-adjusting suspension. The driver seat also had the adjustable lumber support.

Mykl, GXL have leather as an option. T2 have it standard, and I think conv too. GXL is fully loaded minus the turbo, LSD, ABS, leather and CD. GTU is a base. Only GTU and GXL offer automatic. and conv too.

How much do they want for that car, I sohuld buy it for my gf

Nope. I think all models had leather as an option in the 89-92 years. I saw an 89 convertible with cloth, and my 92 TII has cloth (although I've purchased leather from the salvage yard )

Where you get 92 from? I thought all Mazda sold in 92 was FC Conv. Left over from 91?

Base didnt have leather for sure. In 90, T2 didnt have cloth, maybe in 91 they changed

Actually I just saw an 86 GXL in San Diego that only had 55K miles on it... so I wouldn’t rule out a later model.

With an auto and only 45K on it, its probably an senior citizens car, you know they buy it when they can drive then their eye site goes bad and they can't drive anymore.

92 = 91s sold in 92 before 93s were released.

VIN # comes up as a 1992 in mazdas computer.

Kinda neat. If you search for 1992 rx-7 in autotrader.com you'll see a few out there as well
