Pics of short throw shifter - how to assemble?

I bought an 87 rx7 that came with an improperly installed short throw shifter. The bushings were definitely not installed in the right order. Here is a picture of all of the parts I removed. I have a guess at how it's supposed to go together but I would like to hear from someone who knows for sure, what order and in what orientation these parts are supposed to go together (and whether I am missing anything)

Thanks

Steve

Thanks! no wonder I can't get it to work properly, whomever installed this thing (incorrectly) discarded the original top plate. I need to find one of those now

The blue bushing is the top one right? That goes in the top plate that I am missing. I don't see the top plate on mazdatrix, does anyone know where I can get one other than having to buy a whole used stock shifter just to scavenge that part?

Thanks

I see this part on mazdatrix

It's listed as the "inner boot on shift lever". I think I need a metal plate in addition to this bot though.

Here is a pic of their short throw shifter which is pretty much the same as the no name one I have

Here is a pic that shows it looks like there is a metal piece that goes under the "inner boot", that is what I need but is not listed on mazdatrix

Cut one of your stock shifter
OR ask me to send you the one I have in my tool box!
All that top plate does is holds the upper Shifter bushing.Well also holds the shifter in with 3 bolts.
EDIT..if the First Pic on the post is what you have to work with, all you are Missing is a Bushing, and the bushing to the shifter's ball.(on aftermarket shifter like that one, there is a small bushing that sits on the ball.)

So you're saying that thin plate in my picture is the top plate, and that I just need to put a blue bushing under it? Oh. That is easier!!

On another note, does anyone know what kinda bolts the mazdatrix short shifter use? The ones they gave me are too short... but it's because 2 of the threads are stripped at the top so I need longer bolts.

That metal top plate was the original design of the shifter boot, but has since been removed from the design. So that inner boot pic you have will work the same way.

At least that rings a bell from when I did my shifter refresh work a long time ago.

I have two "ebay special" short throw shifters. One worked but was very worn out. The new one I bought, had several manufacturing tolerance errors that render it un useable, and caused a lot of my confusion. I am returning it and buying a mazdatrix shifter. It is not worth the cost savings for these ebay pieces of crap

Lesson learned (again), you get what you pay for.

I didn't want to say it,.But some guys like the Ebay specials.I went through Numerous Shifters, and I settled on a C's Chifter..from Japan.
I paid Dearly for it.,but I got MY shifter..a good shifting Shifter!.what I wanted!
Try Kerebrus. On forum.he has some Shifters For Sale..(look up his Group Buy or his For Sale thread).Cheers man.Goodluck.,Shift ON..STYX!~

It's not a matter of preference, now that I know what I am looking at, I can tell what's wrong w/ the ebay crap. Most of the ebay shifters were not reverse engineered properly, and simply will not work correctly. The bushings are made because somebody thought they looked correct, not because they are functionally correct. The slot bushing sticks way out on most of the ebay shifters, which prevents the ball on the shifter from riding in the bushings correctly. You'd have to shave it down with a razor blade and then they do not fit tight enough and move around. I pm'd kerebrus per your suggestion, thanks.
