oh man those dont go together lmao
you gotta pay to play dude.
$800 or so should get you some megan coilovers which is the least expensive coilover out there. I have em they are decent. Came with my car and im satisfied with them for now, I probably wont need anything higher for what im planing anyways.
Coilovers all the way, make sure you get some that are ride height adjustable via bottom mount and not just spring porches. That is the only correct way to lower it since it doesnt alter the shock travel. Shorter springs etc just compress the struts/shocks all the time, which typically probably isnt too good in the long run.

He is correct, the best way to slam it and still have a pretty good ride is to get a set of coils and make sure they are height adjuststable. The ones that are not adjustable through the bottom of the shock require compressing the springs even more and gives it a very stiff/harsh ride, and will blow the shocks in no time. You can go cheaper and drop it with some lowering springs and new shocks, which will improve handling and still ride nice. But that won't slam the car if you want to tuck the rims/scrape frame rails... =P

Those are the GR+ Pro's right?
Looks like Stance is gaining in popularity, probably for good reason too. They are an excellent quality shock, rebuildable and serviceable in the USA, have nice adjustments including camber plates, perform superbly, and are affordable.
I got my GR+'s barely used for $800, that's the way to go if you ask me. I am very pleased with these coilovers and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a serious suspension upgrade. These are way better than any of theose K-mart coilovers like Ksport or D2 and cost just $200 more.

I cut my springs. The ride is a little bouncy but my shocks are pretty good so it isn't that bad. I'd definitely recommend coil-overs though. The grip of my car due to the camber has decreased (good thing for me, I like sideways > straight) but having to swerve like a mad man around even the slightest bumps is getting annoying. Coil-overs are definitely in my future.

Best ways to lower are coilovers.
My Ksport Kontrol Pro's were decently priced. A little under $900.
Here it is when I dropped it low. I had serious rub up front. I ended up raising it about a 1/2 inch.
Here it is at the good ride height with a front bumper
I need side skirts and a rear diffuser bad.

For cheap slamming, I would probably recommend getting some ground control coilovers on your stock strut if they're good. GCs are like $400
here's a picture of my JIC-Magic FLT-TARs:
not really the best picture, but it's the only one I have. And my FC is covered in about 8 inches of snow...

Thanks for all the replys. I'm pretty sure that i'm going to get a decent pair of coilovers. by the way, I knew my ride would bit more rough, but when I said a good ride I meant handling. The reason I say this is becuase I rode in my friends car who drop his with lowering springs and it felt like I was in a 4x4 jeep. You would turn a little to the right and his car would jerk that way. I don't know if thats becuase he didn't do his right or because he had suspension problems, but i just didn't like that at all.
Also, g14novak, what are you running the back? The wheels are pretty far out. I'm thinking about 18x10 in the back with 275s. I read a chart on other forms and they said i'm going to have to play with fender a little to fit the tens, but I'll do whatever it takes. I think that going wide in the back looks absolutely sick.

Heh, their stock mitsubishi starion rims with the most butthole offset you could imagine. Their 16x8's with 205's on them. The only reason I haven't swapped them for anything is because the fitment is as close to perfect as im going to get without spending 1500$ on a new set of rims.

Old 3rd hand jic magic coilovers. Not sure what the front springs are. Either kei office or tein i think but they aren't jic oe.
They get the job done and i got them REAL cheap. When i did have them on my car i had 3" left that i could lower them (if i wanted to) and could not get my slim floor jack under the car. With sideskirts, they would have been sitting roughly 1" to 1.5" from the ground. I love these coils! I'll probably want A2's or Tar's eventually but i'm content with what i have now. Eaga8's coils are bad as ****!
To be able to adjust my alignment from being so low, i have camber correction front and rear. JIC's came with camber plates up front and i'm using a mazdatrix rod for the rear. I also have a bump steer kit which is a must if you're going to dump the **** out of your car.
I've spent the last couple of weeks test fitting, setting, rolling, cleaning, test fitting some more...you know, that boring ****. That's the bad thing about buying almost your entire suspension at one time.

Honestly that's asking a lot. The general rule is the lower you go, the harsher the ride as you have less room for spring travel so the sprngs will have to be stiffer. If you just want a "mild" drop then install a set of RB or Eibach springs for a few hundred dollars. That will keep the ride relatively compliant and lower it about 1.5 inches. If that's not low enough, then you are into coilovers, which is really how to "slam" a car. They are not exceedingly cheap, nor are the exceedingly comfortable (depends on roads I suppose)! You need to decide what is most important to you: Your Money, Low Ride Height or Comfortable ride - you wont get to keep all 3. From what I see in this thread, you'll end up in the market for used coilovers.

Yup, still here

Yeah, while you will get a 1.5" drop over stock springs, that's only when you compare ride height on NEW springs. By the time you replace your stock springs, they have hundreds of thousands of miles and years of use on them, so they have "slouched" losing their original ride height. Over time, your eibach's will "sink" a bit too with use.

well my height is about the same as the OPs projected height. And I'm only using springs which is alot cheaper then using coilovers. So why wouldn't I post my car as an example?
I guess i see now how some pics on this thread dont really seem to help the op though
