Picking up a S4 Vert, what parts from my TII usable?

I'm picking up an S4 vert. 5sp and leather. Really good condition. I plan on using my TII hood and rear end. I basically have a parts car TII so I dunno what to do with it. The tranny is blow and so is the motor. But everything else is there. Is the TB bigger and better on my TII? Could I swap it? I also wanna swap injectors and fuel rail. Those should work right? What other parts would be an upgrade? Suspension? 5 lug conversion or is the Vert already 5 lug?

The Vert has 186k on the odo. I gotta do some work on this car. Any suggestions and things you could point me to would be nice. Any free mods anyone knows about would be nice too. Thanks.

It is very easy to look at the TB. Take off a few nuts...there's no gasket u have to replace either.

The TB Mod could be considered a free mod.

So switching to the TII TB would be better? Is there something I should do to the TB that you're talking about?

I have no clue if the TII TB is better/worse. Who know's, it might not even be compatible with the NA. What I was saying was go take off the rubber intake elbow off and take a look at the TB to see if there's any noticeable difference. It's easy, and you'll know for sure the answer to what your asking.

The TB mod is where a set of Butterfly vavles and their rods are removed in the interest of better throttle response/small gain in high end HP. If you search for throttle body mod you'll eventually find a thread where there's a step by step procedure on removing the secondary butterfly valves.

Thanks, I apreciate the info. I'll go take a look at it in the morning and compare them on Monday when I have the time.

Anything else that could be suggested? Suspension wise anyone? Should I swap the TII suspension in place of the vert stuff? How much would it lower the car if at all?

DON'T SWAP THE SUSPENSION. I have a 88 convertible and it handles awesome stock, with the 3.91 diff. The verts have the best suspension besides the sports package. The suspension is stiffer on verts plus they whey 220lbs more so the heavier weight keeps the car stuck to the ground. The stiff susp. makes up for the weight when it comes to drift. I got 225's on the back and my cars stock cept for straight pipe and mufflers + intake and I can do 100ft diameter "drift donuts" with half throttle all day, I have no lsd and both my tires spin all day even with my clutch going out.

The vert handles better than the T2... putting in the T2 suspension into a vert will lower the handling of the vert.

I know Racing Beat makes suspension specifically for the vert. I did not think the suspension was even compatable in the sence that it would fit, but it may simply be the spring ratings.

While this thread is open, would it be benificial to swap a 4.3 LSD off the S4 GTU to the S4 vert? How about the window regulator? That is prolly also specific to the verts, eh? I'd just like to see if anyone would happen to know right off hand on these.

Icemark, you should link your story about what you did with your vert, and then undid (I believe I recall reading that from you) I was rather impressed by that one and have decided to leave my vert n/a myself.

It would be extremely benifical if you swapped the 4.3, it'll fit, all models cept for turbo have same size in inches diff. You'd have the best of both worlds, gtus fast, convertible handle + convertible brakes, if you leave your vert n/a just do a streetport, ign, etc. It'll be fast.

what is the difference in the rear suspension between the vert and the t2?? is it just the springs?? because when i build my car i want to get a set up that would be great for drifting and for drag racing. but really is the differences just in the springs?? or the way the strut and spring sit in the vert as opposed to the t2

The convertible sway bars are bigger the shocks/ springs are stiffer, car weighs 220 more sticks to road better. I am not sure 100% if the mounting is different though.

I've also wondered about the mid-section brace from the verts to stiffen the chassis even more on the coupes, for that matter.... Of course, I just noticed that one last week when I was under the vert and I haven't looked under my other ones since.

that sounds like a cool and easy swap. I'm pretty happy with the GTU suspension stiffness but that reinforcement member sounds like something to look for.

Anybody know the answers to these questions?

Not quite 220lbs, but yes, one should, indeed, expect to gain some weight when installing these items to their car. It's one of those trade off's that you have to consider. If you can handle your car better onthe turns to make up for the strait aways on the track and such.
