Picked up another FC Starting from the ground up

So I picked up another RX7, this time a coupe. 1991 N/a with a Clean title. Clean inside and decent body. Ac even works! Lol. The bad? Blown motor. So off to my question, Street port? Bridge port?

I generally dislike porting engines (especially NA) unless you're planning on building a track-only vehicle. Driveability suffers for not much power gain with extra work. Just keep the ports stock.

The cost of doing a bridgeport will be the same as swapping a turbo engine wouldn't it? Won't you need a standalone for bridgeporting? In the end you'll have near the same power as an s5 turbo with some minor mods, but much louder, much worse on fuel and then that's basically it, not much more can be done to make more power eventually.

To clear things up for those that dont know full bridge is porting the primaries and secondaries a Half bridge is only porting the secondaries.

Primary and secondaries are the intake ports.

So just the normal Canundrum then??
Easy enough..get 5 pieces of paper that say N/A..then 5 that say TII.
put them in a bowl, stir, and reach in!

What are you wanting to do with the car?
Is budget a limiting factor?
This should ultimately decide what engine or port you should use

I built a half bridge for ***** an giggles and almost immediately regret it.
Its fun and all, but i still cant keep up with my buddies with hybid turbos and I use just as much gas as them.
Plus I'm getting permanent hearing loss every time I drive it (90+ Db in car)

Rofl. Well idk how loud this car is. It has a straight pipe with a OEM tip. I have thought it over and I am going OEM n/a. Seeing as I want the car to last for 5+ years, I will just be using it to go to and from school. Or my girl is gona take it to and from work. I think I'm getting to the point where I just want my 7's to run decent and look nice. I'll use my 350z to horse around in.

I got a TII that I modded the **** out of and recently got a N/A that I am doing up.
Really,I am contemplating on keeping the N/A as it can be driven anywhere.
The TII?..ugh..fuel,can't park it anywhere without keeping an eye on it.,fiberglass body parts..bling **** inside...blah,blah.
May be nice but it's like a kid.
Do the N/A up..Have fun with that!

Rebuild that engine stock. You'll have a hard enough time finding decent housings. Don't want to complicate the build with porting.

Yum...Boosted......Too bad I can't afford that right now. The car was dropped off this weekend at GARAGE LIFE in south El monte. So Dk the owner of the shop convinced me to do a small port, and upgrade the sleeve to a TII one. So I should be having the car back within 3weeks. I honestly can't wait to get it back and drive it.

Update about the car:

Engine has been finally pulled out and housing and everything checked, Housing are toast. Blown water jacket. Rotors still good. Garagelife has found me a set of FD housings that are going into the car. Still going with the a small port. Most of the emissions stuff has actually been blocked off and going to keep it that way for now. The car came with some RB headers as well. Front iron is gone too and so are the motor mounts. Getting those replaced as well. Radiator was gone too. Luckily, I had a spare at home for that "Just in case moment". Clutch was a 6puck that was completely destroyed. Again, I had a brand new one at home from Action Clutch. So bye bye 6puck and hello stage 1 Action Clutch. Oil cooler lines are also shot. Dkwashere at Garagelife has a spare set that is also going to be dropped into the car.
So far, looks like it's going to be a little while longer, to get the car back, but definitely worth the wait. What I am still on for parts? I have a set of tein springs that are going on (After a road test when the car is done). And swapping from my black vert to the red car are my short shifter, ported throttle-body, Upgraded Spark-plug wires, and my Razewheels.

It's up and running! In the end I went with a street port, FD housings, and a new clutch from Action Clutch. So now I am doing the 1k break in process. Not going over 3k for the first 300miles, (already up to 200miles).

I do have a question though, at 3k rmp when I am in 5th, I hear a rattling noise from the car. But only in 5th gear. What could it be? Bad syncro? Gearbox? All other gears it won't make that noise.

could be the shifter or a bad output bearing on the tranny. check the exhaust to be sure it is sitting on all the hangars and not rubbing on the undercarriage.

Now my tails are out but only when I turn on the headlights. I get break lights but not the other setting ( the one where ppl see u at night). I found this plug that doesn't seem to go anywhere. My vert doesn't have this but it is using coupe S5 tails. Any ideas?

sounds like a bad headlight switch, common problem.
