(pic) what is this under my UIM on my s4 tii

hey guys i am pretty experienced with these cars but i just had a quick question with a pic

What is the thing under my s4 TII upper intake manifold that bolts to the lower intake manifold right below the secondary injectors?
I was thinking it has something to do with the emissions on my car but they have been removed and blocked off. So should i remove this and block it off or just cap off the vacuum nipples on it.
any advice will help

Thanks
Ryan K

I think thats the Accelerated Warm-up system piece, i think. If i'm right than it can be pulled and a plate installed in its place.

Yeah, it's your cold start assist system.

Also goes to that little bucket in the passenger corner of the firewall.

As stated above you can get a block off plate and remove that if wanted.

okay cool, one more question, while the car is running and since that thing is not hooked up would it create a vacuum leak?

Yes, if you unbolt that then you will have a vaccum leak from the LIM and from the piece itself.

When I dropped in my new engine I forgot I layed it to the site and the engine would start then die. Finally plugged it and the car started and worked fine.

Just cap off the vac. ports (or whatever) until you can install a block-off plate, if that's what you want.

It's the sub-zero start assist plate, part-way down the page:

Like they said above, remove the Sub Zero Assist valve and put it on the shelf. Get a dab of JB Weld or a dab of five minute epoxy and put it in the single, small hole that goes to the intake. Let it dry and your done. I put JBWELD on a quarter and put it over the small hole and the Emissions testers havn't stolen it yet. Several years now. That was on non turbo 86 car. That one is on the outboard side of the intake manifold.

The two screw holes and the oval depression do not need to be covered. Just the small hole.

You paid money for something to blockoff that itty bitty small insignificant hole?? You could have just cut a gasket with only holes for the mount bolts and put it b/t the manifold and the Sub Zero Start Assist valve and spent/?????? ten cents?

Just ragging on blockoff plates that are bought. Not to be taken personal because the remark above was not meant personal.

Nope, it's the sub-zero start assist system, which is totally different and unrelated to the AWS.

Why not just take it one step futher and make your own block off plate? I think it would look a hell of a lot better than bolting that ugly *** valve back on.
