Peripheral Multi-Port Engine?

This is just an idea that could possibly work. I was thinking, I don't know if someone has already done this, but could a Peripheral-Port Motor work with the multi-port intake and multi-port exhaust ports found in the RX-8? If you use a 13BT and Peripheral Port it and Use the RX8's Intermediate housings using the Multiport intake and Exhaust ports would this Increase Air Flow? Obviously there would be a custom Lower intake manifold and Custom Exhaust Manifold, but it seems like it would be an untouchable motor, especially if you street or bridge ported it. Let me know what you guys think.

Late,

Steve

Why not? People port their motors all the time and this is just taking it a step further. It seems like it could create more horse by letting the motor breathe even better.

so let me see if I get this.
You want to port the stock ports and gouge a hole in the rotor housing for PP and run them together? I have serious doubts it could be made to work.

Why port a motor? I thought you only did that on ENGINES...

Straight PP is the mad leet....

Can't get no better than that...screw fumbling with multi port manifolds...

That would be called a Semi-Peripheral port...

It's been done before...but why not just go full PP?

It makes more sense to just go all the way then to just stick the proverbial 'tip' in to the proverbial 'slot'...

And this was a very dumb comment...

But as for everyone else I can see most think it couldn't work, but it was just a thought. Thanks for the criticism.

I saw photos in a Japanese tuner mag once of a rotary that was built using PP housings and had the side ports intact, and had a crazy custom intake manifold to feed it. They called it sequential port. One potential benefit is that you could have the high-end breathing of a peripheral port with the normal idle of a side port.

its very comon semi pp port is what you are after more prone in drag racing. I believe it gives more overall volume then PP but id rather just pp

Years ago I heard of someone (an engineer) who built a "multi port" engine that had a standard set of 6 intake ports and a set of peripheral ports. Every port was valved via a staged throttle body. At very low throttle, only the primaries were open, then the secondaries opened up, then the aux, then the peripheral ports. Apparently it worked very well but actually required skill to drive because you couldn't just floor it at any point or all intake velocity would disappear and the engine would bog.

The Renesis has sort of a modern version with valves on the secondary and aux ports. This is a major factor in it's powerband.

The side ports and peripheral ports wouldn't be timed the same way. It wouldnt work very well. The same idea has been brought up on rx8club.

Where you gonna get a manifold (intake and exhaust) for this, anyway? This is another one of those situations where, if you have to ask, you have no chance of making it happen anyway.
