Performance ecu

Any one know what are the differences between the haltech ecu and michrotech ecu. I've been looking at both for a s4 13b turbo. But I cant really decide which one to go with. Seems like haltech might have more features but I just want to get some options before I buy

I'd try the ECU forum here. They have sub-forums for each.

It's an s4 I'm looking to get around 300hp but still have some driveability. But I dont really want to spend a lot on a haltech. I've been searching around for what's best on a budget

You going to tune yourself or have help?
If you are getting help/using a tuner get their input as to what they are familiar with, trust, ect.

I would recommend something from this century...something neither the Microtech, nor the PFC are.

PFC had its day, just like RTEK. It served well when it was new, but it is limited. With a car as finicky as a 7, you'll really appreciate manufacturer/forum/tuner support...

Just to add about the PowerFC. Unless you're getting a good deal on a used one by the time you get the adapter harness and a second trailing coil to modify you are into lower end Haltech Elite territory. Not a slam on the PowerFC I used to want one but it is a bit long in the tooth.

I've aslo looked at mega squirt they seem pretty decent. I like to get opinions from others it helps out a bit. But I am considering to have a tuner do the work I know somethings about engine management but I'd rather be safe than sorry later on so it does make sense to get something they are familiar/comfortable with.

If you're not going to do it yourself/spend hours really learning how to tune a vehicle and why things are done a certain way spend the money on whatever name brand your local (or as close to local) tuner recommends and expect to pay at least twice what the unit costs when all is said and done.
