Perhaps an '87 TII without the weight added by the later standard accessories such as A/C, PS, sunroof and rear wiper. The later TII's became the "Flagship" of the RX-7 line and usually had every single option laden on. The 87 will be the lightest and perhaps the fastest.

Good luck!

import a Infini from Japan, if there are any still around. The Infini III was the most popular, but the was a IV as well. These were turbo II's with no frills.

If you keep a TII properly maintained there isn't any fuss or muss...just turn the key and go faster

The "Turbo I", meaning the first rotary-powered car turbocharged by Mazda, was a first gen available in Japan.

The 87-91 models with a turbo under the hood (from the factory) are all Turbo IIs...the "other" turbos are the 3rd gens, which all came twin turbo from the factory.

Actually, the 84-86 RX-7 Turbo was only the first turbo'd RX-7. The 82-86 Cosmo was the first turbo'd rotary. It was also the first Mazda with EFI

Just take it out. You can take out the a/c, stereo, p/s, whatever you want. I think that the p/w weigh less than the manual ones so you know though, even though I don't know of a TII with manual ones.

Here is a site with some info about the Turbo II and the other 2nd Generation RX7 models.

http://2ndgenrx7.freeservers.com/page1.html

Here is a site to look through that shows some of the things to look out for when buying a 2nd Gen RX7. If the car has some of these problems you can pass on the car or use them to try to bring down the selling price.

Have Fun,

None came from the factory after 1985. A popular N/A mod used to be pulling th EFI in favor of a Delortto or Weber carb setup. A rare find these days.
