Pep Boys fuel hose

Theres some fuel hose at Pep Boys that are wrapped around in SS braids. My friend had some left overs and I decided to cut the braid off of one of the hose. It has a marking of SAE 30R7. I searched on google and found it's just a regular fuel hose and not rated for fuel injection. Now my question is, would it even be safe for me to run this kind of hose in the rx7?

Here's a picture of it:

I'd say no. I always use good quality fuel hose because it's one of those things that cannot allow for failure.

The last stuff I got was NAPA and it was highly rated and cost $60 for five feet. I kind did a double take when I saw the price but it's supposed to be more heat resistant (which my NAPA guys know how hot that FC gets) and he recommend using that hose with loom on the portions that I ran under the UIM for emissions removal.

NO!
A customer of mines tried it, and it start to crack and leak in 3 months!
NOT GOOD!

Now, this was on a turbo, so the FPR shoots up 1psi of fuel pressure for each psi of boost.
It was *maybe* running up to 5psi, so about 45 psi of fuel rail pressure.
NA's would do 40psi at WOT, so that's pretty close.

PLEASE USE FUEL HOSE MADE FOR FUEL INJECTION APPLICATIONS!
I can't stress that enough.
You really don't wanna get caught with fuel leaking from your hose.
The down side is that this special high pressure fuel injection hose is EXPENSIVE!
I normally pay around $5 PER FOOT for this stuff locally.
You can almost buy SS AN braided fuel hose for this kinda price!

SuphaG - good job checking that hose out before you used it.

Just because it has SS braid, doesn’t mean it’s for high pressure.
