people with safc's or safcII PLEASE HELP

ok my car is up again...but my idle is ****..i noticed that at idle my air flow meter is reading round 9-10%..now im guessing it should be more like 2%..and wen i give it a little gas it drops down to about 1% and seems to be ok after that..but my idle is really shaky..and i kno im running rich still..also on my boost gauge at idle im at like -10...what do your afl's read at idle? u think i could be a bad afm or maybe the wiring? thanks

Check your TPS and re-calibrate it.
I dunno, my s-afc2 don't even work yet, no TPS at all

With the key to ON and the engine not running, the afm reads .4 percent.

If the engine is turned on and allowed time to warm up, the afm reads 1 percent.

At the same time, if you will go to your ETC mode and look at SENSORS check, the voltage should be 2.6 to 2.7 volts.

There's no sense looking unless the car is warmed up.

I can tool down the hwy and read the 8 percent your getting. Something is wrong with your car.

By the way, the tps should be reading one volt give or take .1 volt.

Also.......go back to your safc. Go look at how the SENSOR TYPE is set. I played with mine a bit too much and the finger slipped and I had it on HOT WIRE. That resulted in a slight problem. When I was taking fuel away by going to say a minus -5........I was actually adding fuel. That resulted in a lot of confusion on my part, what with everything acting just the opposite of what it should be. (but it actually worked in that opposite way, in a sense). Anyway, I backtracked and found my error.

Here's something to check out. With the engine fully warm, look at you tps voltage on the safc under the Sensor Check page. It should read one volt. If not, then set the tps.

Now the next time you start your car and it's up in that 8 percent range on the afm....go look at the tps voltage. When cold it will not read one volt. It will read as high as 1.8 volts. That's because of the thermowax holding the throttle open during a cold start. As the water temps come up, the tps voltage will decrease..until the water is fully warmed up and now the tps voltage will have dropped down to the one volt give or take .1 volt.

One other thing. Do you still have your acv??? IF you do, that's just fine. But try this if you have it. With the car fully warmed up, pull the Blue plug off your Relief solenoid. Did the rpms change significantly??? If they did, you can remove your acv and plug the port that is bypassing air into the intake when it should not, using RTV and a couple of hrs for it to set up. That action will eliminate that problem and not effect the rest of the acv's funcitions.

Also, if you have a series four, try adjusting the variable resistor per the fsm.

if the % is going down when you step on the gas you probably have the wrong sensor chossen.
