pegd oil press gauge

ok so few weeks ago i found a broken oil metering line and fixed it , also replaced oil cooling lines . yea no more spots on the ground !!! couple days later noticed oil press higher than used to be . found no issue xcept for a quart low . seemd to resolve the issue for a little while . then it started reading a little higher again . then at idle it would drop way low . seemd to resolve itself . today i noticed the gauge is peggd out even at idle and without the engine running and the key on . any body xpierence this . if the sending unit was bad wouldnt it not read at all ???
