PD fire covered by insurance?

PD fire covered by insurance?

I was just wondering if PD fire are covered by comrpehensive insurance? I did a quick search but couldnt find anybody mentioning what happened AFTER the fire.

should be able to claim on comp. But depending on the deductable it may not be worth it.

how do you figure? replacement value on an rx7 has to be more than a few hundred bucks

Depending on your deductable and how bad the fire was it may not be worth filing the claim.
i.e. $500 deductable and $750 in damage. You pay more than the insurance company for the repair and then they raise your rate due to the claim.
There are a lot of things that come into play. I would do my homework before calling my insurance company. Hell, they may try to total the car.

yeah. I was just thinking if they were to write the car off, which they probably would if the fire got big at all

still seems low to me :P I mean.. call mazda and ask them what a new engine harness costs, along with every plastic piece under the hood, the hood itself would probably melt, bubbling cracking paint.. lots of stuff

my insurance paid after my PD fire..totalled it and gave me 5K...I **** my pants when i saw the check..this was an 87 basemodel

yah, I think I mixed that number up with the cost of a new ECU harness, if mazda still makes them.
