PD fire 2 damaged wires

Yes I searched but it didnt answer my question.

Ok so I picked up an 88 10th ae for 950 as a project/donor car for my 88vert. It had suffered a rear end accident that totaled it(not as bad as it sounds). This accident triggered a PD leak and the next time it was started it caught fire.

Fire did minimal damage as far as I can tell only 2 wires need to be replaced. One is the ground that attaches to the block(ecu ground I believe). The second is the wire that goes to what I think is a temp sensor right next to the oil pressure sending unit. The insulation on both wires is completely melted off so you can see bare wire but only about 6 inches worth on each wire.

I'm swapping this motor to my car and using my n/a harness so I dont really want to go buy a harness thats not gonna get used.

My question is this, Is it ok to cut the 6 inches worth of damaged ecu ground wire out and solder in new wire to repair it? Or will it add to much resistance or something?

i don't see a problem with soldering a new wire as long as the wire guage is the same or close because i had recently replaced a sensor end that cracked... 20 year old harness's are so fragile and haven't had a problem... good luck with your swap

Stock boost, stock everything other than the removed air pump, ac, ps, and emmisions and banjo mod. zip ties sounds like a good simple fix for now thanks.
