is the car equipped with an aftermarket alarm???

if so, then that is what I would look at first.

if not then look at the back of the light switch... chances are it is melted

Yes, the one on the steering wheel surround. It can all melt together from excess heat (probably caused by those shitty relays), and would create a circuit every time the accessory wire is powered, lighting up the parking lights.

Do your console lights come on when you do this too?

There are no relays, except for the highbeams... and they almost never cause problems.

and the parking lights are not related to the accessory wire or circuit in the car what so ever.

However if micky mouse wired the radio, that too could cause the problem

ok...how about mine...my stupid lights dont come on (blinkers) i can here the tick tick noise they make, but they dont come on inside or outside. they have never worked exept this one time for like 5 minutes, then they shut themselfs off. headlights work fine, so do break lights, but hazzards and blinkers dont. i checked my light switch and it is not melted.

Do the lights come on with ignition or accessory???

if it is accessory, check the radio lumination wire (Factory red/black) is not hooked up to the factory accessory (blue/white).

Its very common to see someone wire the red/black as ground for the radio or tie it into the blue/white.

and have you checked the light switch yet.

The CPU wouldn't have anything to do with it, unless it is just the turn signals and not the parking/dash lights.

just the side marker lights come on. the radio is grounded to the chassis straight off the radio. i did hook up the dimmer wire but it goes form the radio to the plug adapter harness. then just plugs in

i don't know if it is related but i blew my meter fuse ( right after it happened the upshift light was coming on in 5th) so im guessing that's shot too. the light backlighting doens;t come on for the switches on the right of the column. and every now and then i have to hit the dash to get the gauge lights to come on. maybe loose connection?

I don't know about the defroster, but if the radio is hooked up to the wrong wire, it will turn the parking lights on... It happened to me, because I followed the "instructions" on a radio install kit made "specifically" for RX-7's.

anything else you'd like to tell us???

Don't mean to be short, but when trouble shooting electrical you need to know ever single thing wrong, because they can be related.

I am assuming the rear defroster??? it should shut off with the switch, or after 11 minutes. Either that or you don't have the rear defroster hooked up on the hatch.

The radio plug adapter should not connect the parking lights to anything. Disconnect the wire.

If you are still having problems then the next step will be looking at the back of the light/defroster switchs.
