Parking brake cable replacement questions

I am in the process of replacing the rear brakes on my 89, noticed the parking brake cables rusted up pretty bad. Got them loose enough to remove after soaking in kroil and deep creep a few days, not confident they'll tighten back up.
Is replacing those things as big a PIA as the haynes manual says? Also, rockauto seems to have the best price, but I want to make darn sure fitment is good.
Suggestions on where to buy?

Thanks!

It's not that tough to replace them. You unbolt the handle and feed the cable through the floor. You will have to drop the exhaust out of the way and possibly the driveshaft to get the the center portion.

Just buy all of them from atkinsrotary. That way you get new Mazda parts that will fit. There are 3 total cables. Or, post a WTB ad in the classifieds and go that way for good used ones.

Good luck.

They're cheap enough to get new even from the dealer. About $25 a piece

Easy to replace
