Question Painted Rubber Rear Spoiler

The previous owner of my Series 4 painted the rear rubber spoiler red (to match car) - probably seemed like a good idea at the time, but now the paint is flaking off in places and it looks pretty ordinary.

My dilemma is this: do I repaint it and then spend the rest of my life touching it up, or do I remove all the paint and take it back to its original black?

Has anyone done this before? Your experiences would be very helpful...

Go find another black spoiler. It will be easier (I think) than peeling that one. If you repaint it, it will crack as soon as someone leans on it.
I've been thinking for awhile about making a fiberglass version to replace it so that I could paint it to match the car. I figure it would look good along with a lip on the front of the car. Simple and subtle.
But it can be a tough mold to make if I want it to bolt on.

Yea, I got one of the rubber spoilers for mine, and painted it to match my car. Someone leaned on it and the paint cracked. So my advise is to either find another type of spoiler if you want to paint it, or just get another lip one and leave it black..

Well.....mine is sorta starting to come off on the sides a bit, they are only glued down. But I am wondering, does anyone know how easy the gluey residue is to clean off if I remove the spoiler? I looked underneath it a little bit where it lifts off and I can see sort of a beige looking colour of gluey residue. Does it come off real easy or is it a pain in the butt? Anyone know? I wanna remove mine and not have one, kinda like the look of no spoiler better. Thanks.

UHm, it should be bolted on... I believe there are 4 bolts, open the hatch and pull back the carpeting thats hiding the spare. Take a peek in there and you should see the nuts that are holding it on. They may have used epoxy to hold down the ends of the spoiler, but it should be bolted on....
