yo has anyone tried drifting without p/s if so how much more hard is it to turn than with p/s ? im debating on removing p/s due to highly ugly **** on front of motor and leaking and allways whining like out of fluid but full. wondering if i should de power my rack or buy manual rack ? a bud of mine says he cant tell the difference in his manual rack and another buds de powered rack.

The short answer is that it comes down to personal preference- only you can answer which setup will work better with your skillset.
It doesn't sound like your PS is working to it's full potential (leaking and whining are NOT normal) so what you're really asking is "which is better, a manual rack or my screwed up powered rack?".

Well also p/s cuts off around 25 mph so it dose not matter long as your moving ive dont it on my 87 and now im going to do the same with my 91 the only thing is i dont know what size bolts it need and if i remove it i dont have a ride to get to the parts store lol but ill more then likely do it this week
the power steering does not cut off at 25mph. the inputs the computer sends to boost the system are less at higher speeds. remember, the power steering system on this car is speed sensitive.
Clokker hit it spot on. The decision is up to you, there is no right or wrong answer. Pull your pulley off and try to drive or drift like that. If you like it, remove it totally. If not, leave it. I've had mine off and can't think of a time that I have ever regretted taking it off.
p/s and manual rack have different feels. I personally have manual steering and love it...you feel everything and I feel like i have more control. I know someone who the speed sensor broke to their p/s and it thought they were going slow...so his little turn flipped his car. Thats why i never like p/s.
I would think that since drifting often requires you to turn the wheel one way and then the other quickly (usually hydrolocking the rack) a non PS rack would be desirable. Don't get a manual rack if you plan on drifting, they have a longer steering ratio. De-power your existing rack and enjoy. Just remember you will pretty much never be able to parallel park unless you don't mind getting frustrated. Also remember that tire pressures in the front are CRITICAL to steering effort at low speeds so air up the tires.

I've actually parallel parked mine in about 5 seconds with the p/s disabled. Not bragging or anything, but you get used to it after a while. That, and it was flat. I'm used to doing it on hills in the bay area.
