Overheating, SHIFTER SMOKING

Alright i was having problems with my thermostat housing or coolant filler neck was cracked and leaking. i had to drive about 20 minutes out of town to get a new one from a friend i was almost home and my top radiator hose blew up. i had my girl bring me some tools and fixed it right there. I DIDNT HAVE COOLANT

i had to make due and put some water in there to get my car up the road to my house.

coming home last night it was real icey and my car tried to over heat so i shut if on the hill while driving and was gonna coast down the hill and bump start it while it was still going. ( i couldnt stop cuz the car keeps flooding due to a messed up primary injector.) when i went to bump start it it wouldnt start the car ended up getting stuck in the snow and it took about 2 hours to get it out half way home (about 1 mile away) it was already all the way hot again. but as i got up to the house i noticed smoke coming from my shifter!?

i let the car cool for about 20 minutes and went and put coolant in it.
it was dark and coolant got everywhere so theres alot of smoke coming from the motor now but i know thats because its burning it off the motor.

but i notice once the car warmed up it didnt try to over heat but the shifter was smoking again! what is going on?
