Overheating at idle???????

Overheating at idle???????

My RX overheats when sitting still but cools down as soon as i start driving the fsm isnt any help has anyone had this problem or know whats wrong.

Sounds like the clutch is going out in your cooling fan. A typical test is to warm up your car to operating temp and turn it off. Then spin your fan by hand. I think normally it shoudn't spin more than a half to a full revolution. Do a search for "clutch fan" or something similar. you will find a lot of info on this as well as possible electric fan conversions.

Also make sure your fan shroud and skid plate are still installed, these compenents help the stock setup to cool at idle.

it also gets a good amount of pressure in the cooling hoses is this norm

Its sounds as if maybe you have some sort of blockage in your system??? Fan clutch is a good plac to start, otherwise I would try replacing your thermostat, it sounds like that mightnot be opening all the way.

Also check to see that your engine isn't on fire, that happened to be the case when my car started to overheat at idle.

On a serious note, as mentioned before, check your fan clutch, thermostat, and fan shroud.

sorry i should have been a bit more specific i took the ther out to see and that didnt work so i guees ill try the fan clutch thanks.
