overheat issue

On my S4 turbo today I got off the highway to sit in traffic for 20-30mins. Then I notice a whistling sound and steam coming out form under the hood. I was able to pull over after 2mins. Would have been sooner but traffic sucks in jacksonville. I had no problems on the highway needle was right in the middle. I just put the fan shourd back on. I have pics that I will post later. Any ideas?

you put your shroud back on? so you had it off and just the clutch fan going? everyone will tell you that you need that shroud to cool the radiator.

speaking of shrouds, do you have that plastic under tray? because that helps cool as well.

went to the part store and used their pressure tester. the radiator looks like it is leaking. it may be the original. I may put a Corksport AL rad in there.

Even with a good radiator I cant imagine your car wouldnt overheat without a fan shroud. It was about 95 here in Charlotte today and my car didnt hit above 175(prosport gauge) at idle with factory fan and shroud

the shroud and the undertray helps with the cooling process of the car. Since you're going to replace the radiator, you might as well replace the radiator hoses (just to make sure you wont have any leaks to worry about in the near future).

the hoses where replaced when i swapped in the turbo motor. However I will go with the hoses corksport recommends. I am not sure if I am going to use the CS shroud or mod my stock one.

I just installed the tray today, with the 5 bolts i had, and it ran so much cooler. about a 1/4 maybe 3/8 the highest.
