Lightbulb Over boost?

Alright, I'm almost done swapping in all of my TII stuff into my '86 GXL, I don't have a down pipe, (from exhaust man. to cat) and I was wondering how my turbo would react to that...

I was thinkin' it'd probably spool up create more boost and then the ECU would cut fuel to the rear rotor.

Am I correct in expecting that? Please and thank you,
Scott.

Yeah, especially if it's a S4 turbo with the micro wastegate. You're going to want a downpipe before you drive the car anyway, since it will make you and everyone within a mile deaf.

it will be WAT too loud to drive anywhere but the muffler shop to get a DP made. you will get a ticket....as far as boost creep i had a 3" exhaust on my S4 TII and sometimes when i got on it the turbo would spool past 13psi so i would have to let off all the time andc watch the boost gauge like a hawk. you do have a boost gauge right??? also while your swap is still goin on i would highly recommed you take the WG off and port it out

Where is the waste gate on this set up? Never even looked for it.

The wastegate is internal to the turbo. The actuator bolts onto the compressor and if you follow the rod, it leads to the wastegate.
