Out of Control Wipers!!!

I need help. My wipers won't stop. It only stops after i turn the car off. It's driving me nuts. It's on while the switch is set to "OFF." Because of that i couldn't drive it to school today. Another thing where is the fuse box inside the car?

I just bought the car last week and i didn't get to drive it 'til today, because of registration.

Can u guys help me with my out of control wipers plz....Thanx.

Sounds as though switch is shot. Mark (Icemark) repairs them. In the meantime disconnect the wiring at the wiper motor. When wipers near bottom of windshield, pull wire off motor. Facing car, left side of firewall.

You can either repair them (if you are good with a soldering iron and willing to take them apart), or you can buy a new one, or you can buy rebuilt ones. On my site I sell rebuilt ones, and also make available the offer to rebuild yours for you.

If you want to try and do it yourself, I have posted quite a few times on this website on how to repair them (including detailed pictures on what relay needs to replaced). There are also several other sites that have it posted. You may wish to use the search function found in the upper right hand corner of this page.

But take into consideration that about 1/3 the time they fail, they fail because of some other issue other than the relay. And 1/8 of the time it is actually related to a bad motor.

If you want to just buy a brand new switch, Mazdatrix usually has the best price on brand new.

Well, were it me I'd buy a rebuilt from Mr. Icemark... better than paying $400 for a new unit, like I did last time. But, if you insist on doing it yourself, try this and you'll probably still end up buying from Icemark

I can't post that here because that crosses the fine line of advertising issues with this board, but you can check it out on my website that ilike2eatricers listed above, as well as don't forget I give a $10 credit back to you for your old switch when you send it in.

usually, it's the relay(s) that need to be replaced. Case of wipers only working at one speed. That's what the rx-7 faq that's floating around talks about.

when the wipers don't turn off but everything else works, it's probably the rotary switch itself that's broke. I don't know how you can fix that and I don't know how Mark fixes it if that's the problem. I'd like to know though.

Technically every thing works, but the problem is when i turn it to "OFF" the wipers go faster it's like putting it "ll", so could it be the switch or something else??

I have enough wiper cores with other things broken on them (like screw holes and other plastic issues) that I just clean and then swap the switch parts, if that is the issue.

YO I have the EXACT same problem. Just like you said, in all modes except "I" it goes like its in mode "II". It's annoying as hell too.

I figured out how to turn it off without pulling the fuse tho. Turn the car off, put the switch on off. Push the wipers manually down all the way until they lock at the bottom of the windsheild. Now turn the car on again and they should stay down until the next time you turn them on.

Icemark, I am interesting in buying a new switch from you.
