my question still is:

why?

i understand one person doing it out of boredom but 2 people?

it simply overengineers and complicates things.

Sometimes you do things off the beaten path because you don't want to beat the sama path as everyone else, it's a little monotonous.

Ah, that's way better! It's also even more reason to ditch the stock EFI so that you can take more advantage of them.

Actually it's proportional to both, but if you use diameter the formula becomes A = D^2 x pi/4.

I don't see how that's any better. First you'd have to find one (examples please), then you have to make four runners merge into two to match the throttles. And the fact that the throttle staging is adjustable is an advantge. There's no figuring out, just a bit of simple tuning to get what works best.

Some engineer who taught one of our classes knew that D squared over 4 pi formula too, it must be common out in the field.

On with the ITB thread, show us some pics!

It's far more commonly used because in engineering applications you're almost always dealing with the diameter. Radius is useless most of the time.

I'll get the pics up once I get back to work tomorrow...I actually forgot the damn thing there. I was all psyched about going and grabbing a wrecked seven from a nearby town and wasn't thinking much of the manifold...I was going to grab them as I went back by the office after I grabbed the car. The car had been crushed...3 ******* days ago...it's been there for 2 years and it gets crushed 3 days ago...shittles...bummed, I forgot the mani on the way home.

NZ, I did think about something, though. The TB size is somewhat irellevent due to the LIM....it'll be hard to find throttles as small as the intake ports...built in bottle-neck. Still cool...maybe later I'll fab up a custom engine-mount manifold.

You're right that the intake ports are generally the smallest part of the intake tract, but that doesn't make TB size irrelevant, far from it. The flow of a system is not governed by its smallest section, but by the sum of all the restrictions in it. Remove or reduce one of those restriction, and you get more flow. Also remember that a (say) 45mm throttle bore does not flow nearly as well as a piece of 45mm pipe the same length, because of the restriction caused by the throttle blade even when it's fully open. So the thottle body needs to be bigger than the port(s) it feeds.

Ya, civics are doing this. They call it the Mini Me Swap. Check it out Makenzie71, maybe that info could be useful?

no. a mini me swap is when you take a d16a6 head or y8 head and slap it on a non vtec block most commonly a d16a6 block.

also look here.

you can thank jeff frank for this.

Actually andrewdruiz has gotten me slightly interested in making a different one. This one isn't very effective...I made it more just to make something. I'm going to try and whip up a slightly more "propper" manifold and show it off.

The one I have is basically a flange cut to fit the LIM, two 2" pipes straight from the center, and the #1 and #4 runners are cocked out at nearly 45* angles. I wanted to mount the TB's 90* from the LIM, but I think it would be better to run a side-draft setup or run it straight off the block, but that'll eliminate your 6p setup...
