Is our FC's still modern looking?

Dude.... If you look at a third gen... even though they stopped importing them into the country in 95, it still looks like something that you'd see in a "concept" car show (actually it looks better, all the new cars are all squared off and boxy looking) But, you look at one of ours, and it SCREAMS 80's design. it SCREAMS it, i tell ya.
I've often thought about getting a third gen, know why i don't and keep throwing money at this one.... I CANT FIT IN A THIRD GEN!! I am very comfortable in my 2nd gen, once I get in it (I'm 6'3", 240lbs.. i have to kinda shimmy in), however, the third gen simply isn't wide enough, i feel like a ten pound toad in a 9 pound jar!!!
So.. to answer you... NO, our cars DO NOT look modern, the biggest thing that makes 'em look like relics is the totally flat hood line across the fenders... the front end basically looks like a door jamb with a rounded snout on it (the TII's are only slightly better cause of the intercooler scoop).
Don't get me wrong, I still love 'em, and you can jazz 'em up a lot with some body kits, but they scream old school!! But then again, so do I!!! Like Anthrax Says... "Strap on Your Old School!!"

My point is: if it was more common, the FD would look much more stale.
But in the case of all RX-7s:
Although it still does look good, they still look dated, not as dated as say any 300zx or any Mr-2

the FC has aged well. the FD will age far better. even seeing a mint FB will make me smile. this is not true with all 'sports' cars. the mark 1 supra looks llike butt, although the mark 2 can still look very good.
the current 996 will not age well, but the 993 did since it was still relatively rare.
The new 350Z will not age well either. the Skyline will though. it's a bit of a mixed bag.
Sedans rarely age well, but i think the mid 90's BMWs will.
hatchbacks will be the car that ages the best since the overall look of the car doesn't change very much. Best one ever? it's between the Austin mini and the MK2 Golf.

what makes the FC look somewhat older is if you have the black plastic door ding bar thingy....i think that alone makes it look old..but if you get it painted to match your car itll look ALOT better...

The FC is a great looking car, will remain looking good, even as it continues to recede deeper into "old school" status.
As many above has said, new car designs SUCK. Honestly, I see these bubble cars with these hideous headlight treatments, and I swear I had no idea what these designers are thinking! Or maybe I am just getting too old to "get it."
So, as new car get uglier and uglier, and "age" more and more quickly. The FC and the FD will hold their own. They were designed to look good and stay looking good. Whereas new car look like they were designed to age more quickly, so that people with see them as dated looking and want to replace them with something new.
That's the RX-8, too. I celebrate the advanced technology, but the design of the car is a disaster. It is not an attractive car. It look cheap and pieced together. You know how you could always tell the difference between a real Ferrari and one of those cheap Ferrari knock-off kit cars? Well, that's what the RX8 looks like to me: some cheap Kmart clone car.
Hail the FC! This is a stud ride, for sure. You paint an FC, lower it slightly, and some clean wheels, and people will stare.
And all the same goes for the FD.
That's why I have one of both...but will never buy an RX-8. I would only consider buying a new RX7 if it was a legitimate competitor to the Corvette, Viper, Porsche, Ferrari, and other purpose-built sports cars. The RX-8 sure isn't in that league, quality-wise or price-wise!
Since I doubt the new Mazda/Ford mindset will challenge the sport car world with a state of the art 400+ HP RX-7, I will stay happy with what I have!
