Group size 34, top post, regular polarity. Just thought it was a good deal.

A few years ago i would have recomended a red top to anybody now i try to convince people to not buy them. I sell them and always seem to get them back with in a year. I went through 3 of them in a year in my TII then i got frustrated and put in a regular old group 35 Lead Acid battery and have not had a problem since (1.5 years ago). I am not sure why but lately the optima batterys have been garbage.
Mine would just loose its charge over night for no reason i had another that started chroding (sp?) the positive terminal for no reason and the third did the same thing as the first.
EDIT: great price though i think i sell them for $129

If you overtighten the battery clamp on a Optima (red or yellow) it will leak and fail early.

No, the reason that they leak is because Micky Mouse Mechanic gets in there and overtightens the battery clamps too much.

I have had one in all my cars ive owned. I have never had any problems with them . Currently my FC, FD and my Jeep (which we have winched on it all day (before I put in the lockers, Winching tends to kill a battery pretty quickly. Its pretty much just arching the battery from the size of the amp draw.) without it giving any sign of failure.
I am a fan.

For dBdrag I will swear by my yellow tops. Ive had mine for a while now and even with puting them under hard load they havent given out yet.
Icemark: I always thought that the terminals were just delicate. Thanks for the good heads up as usual. Of course its always a little different when you have copper slats laying across 3 of em :-P

i bought a yellow top in '02, since then its been in 6 different cars, two of which had insane stereos with amps pulling massive amounts of power, been through 3 wrecks(only one was an fc, rip 87 tII), and it's never given me a problem.

In the past, Optima made great batteries. Now, since they have been sold to Johnson Controls and are now available at every discount store, the quality is in the pooper. You couldn't PAY ME $84 to take an Optima.

2 red tops here. One in the Jeep and one in my wifes car. One will be going in the Turbo II. To each his own. A bad experience will leave a sour taste in anybodys mouth, no matter the brand.

I use a orbital from kragen, and i love it not only is the cranking power awsome (after one turn my car is on) but its a drycell wich means it dont leak and it last way longer than an optima the life span on dry cell batteries is great iv had mine since 01 and i havent had a problem since yea its a little heavy but i recomend that battery to anyone, if you had bad expierence with optima try the orbital and if it dont work for you, you can take it back
