Opinions on a possible gxl/t2 swap purchase
I was lurking the trading post and found an ad for an 86 gxl but has an s5 jspec t2 motor. It is being sold as a project car simply because it isn't running right now. The seller says he believes it only needs the jspec s5 harness to run.
Drivetrain: Swapped with an s5 jdm t2 motor (55K miles), t2 tranny, act clutch kit, but still has the na rear end.
Chassis/Exterior: Around 100k chassis miles. The white paint is in very good condition with few dings and no real rust. Light window tint. No cracks.
Interior: Clean, yet ugly maroon interior that I would swap to black. I just finished mine on my DD FC and I wouldn't mind doing it again.
On car goodies: It has extra little goodies such as a new downpipe, gauge holders, panspeed ecu, headlight air duct, front lip, electric fan, and maybe some other things. It has a maroon interior
Extra part goodies: Borla catback exhaust, a running s4 NA engine, a dead s4 engine, an s4 na tranny, tons of boxes of ****.
So here come my questions...
Since the engine has been sitting for probably years, should I throw some MMO in the plug holes and let it sit for a few days? After sitting a few days, I would attempt to turn it over. Compression check?
How much of a pain in the *** would it be to do the wiring?
Common NA to TII swap problems?
How much do you think its worth? (It was also suggested by a friend to assume the motor is dead if its not running or cranking.)
Thanks for the time and help!
