opinion on bodymolding?
opinion on bodymolding?
Hi,
you know that boding molding that is black on the rx7, like on the doors and the taillights, well, I was wondering have you guys colormatched them?
b/c my brother says the black body molding is an "outdated" look, I personally don't mind it?what do you think of that look anyways? like, for example on a silver 7 with silver body molding? good?bad?

Yeah, body matched moulding could look good (ie AE Turbo's car) but if you do it, make sure it is done well. If it's done even a little bit under-assed (like 90%-assed or so), it's going to look bad. It needs to be a minimum of 96%-assed to look good.
But, yeah, it could look really good.

Nah, Tully's a mess at night, too much traffic. I live over on Capitol Expressway. The RX7 is a track only car, it'll never see the street (well, except around the block maybe)

Don't know if I've ever seen a silver 89-92 FC???
You could remove the side moldings like the yellow one posted above, or check out Ryan "RX7" Radio's red one in the pics of FC posting earlier. Then you can paint only the strips around the front and rear. They really do not require a special paint, most of the spray touch-up paints already have a flex additive in them. But this will require a proper prep before paint. Just carefully mask off above and below the strip. Clean the surface completely. Then rough the surface with a 1000 grit sand paper, clean well, then paint.
Obviously the hardest part is finding a paint to match. You do have some leeway because of the body lines of the molding.
