open hood reverse... (like old school Rx's)
Im going to try and make some hinges to make my TII hood open like old school Rx's. Im just wanting to know if anyone here has done it before? or has some pics to inspire me. I already have a pretty good idea on how im going to do it. but i would like to see a few pics if anyone has some...

I've never seen anyone do it mainly for reasons of practicality. It's easier to work on a car when the hood goes the other way. I've always wanted to install four hood pins and just take my hood off all together if need be. Makes things easier I would say, plus I have a carbon fiber hood, so it would be easy to do so.

^ I'm with him. Even though it looks cooler it makes working on just about anything in the engine bay a HUGE pain. My other car (Isuzu Impulse) has a hood like this and it sucks. Just think about working on the FC now, but without being able to stand in the front of the car to reach anything.

My first gen is not that hard at all. I usually stand on the sides near the fender to get at most things on other cars. About the thing I stand up front to get at is the radiator.
Then again, I learned to work on cars from my FB and various E30 BMWs (Also reverse hinged hoods.)
Standard hoods like on the FC, I find get in the way when I get at the side of the car and I have to duck under it.
Hondas open almost vertically when you put the prop rod in a different hole in the bracing rather than the standard prop rod spot.
The only cars that I can't easily work on from the side are transverse mounted engines, but even then, I move side to side on them a lot too.

You would need to add considerable structure to the area around the rad support and front bumper to accomplish this. Unlike the SA/FB, the FC doesn't have any real meat in that area so there is nowhere to mount the hinges. The SA/FB hood also closes flush with a firewall lip while the FC hood slightly overlaps.

how would it be harder, have you guys ever worked on your car? the reason im doing it is for ease of working on the car. i usually pull the hood off if im doing anything towards the rear of the motor. you barely ever work on the car from the front by the bumper. 9 times out of 10 your leaning over the fenders and having to duck the hood. and since i usually work on on my car from the hours of 1am to 6am (i work overnight and sleep days) the hood usually blocks all my light. so doing this would benefit me in two ways...
besides, i still think it would look dope...

the FC hood will overextend too, not like the honda though.
color me lazy, but i don't pull the hood off the FC to do anything anymore, engine happily comes out with the hood on...

guess there is a downside to having a tiny little motor mounted so far back in the engine bay. the idea of a reverse hood sounds pretty sweet to me after leaning over in said position for several hours in the past few days.

im working on a bunch of different things right now. when i get around to this, i'll post pics. right now im driving the car with no hood anyways. i did take a bunch of measurements and drew up the mounts/hinges. its really not all that hard and will only cost about 30 bucks in material...

..how about Hood struts?.Hood shocks?.
I had my Imagination going about the Hood too.I wanted to make it so you could flip the hood onto the Top of the car..out of the way.

lol, so while working on my car last night all i could think about was how nice it would be to have a reverse hood. i was just going to replace all of the vacuum hoses, but i ended up breaking the brittle purge valve and one of the vacuum solenoids, and decided to just remove the charcoal canister and solenoids.

I agree with the one of the above post get 4 hood pins & remove the hood. I never liked the reverse hood on my 1st gens or my E30 BMW. Could look decent tho. Good luck getting it to work, in for pic when done.
