open diff in S4 TII

i want an open diff that i can put in my S4 TII.
I don't care if i have to put the open diff internals into a TII pumpkin or anything like that, as long as it works.

so, what are my options?

The NA internals are smaller than the TII ones so I don't think that would work. Why do you want to get rid of your LSD?

What you need is: N/A diff + housing, N/A axles.....I think thats it.

Are you looking to make any kind of power with this setup?

i'm lookin to weld the diff and use it for drift days a few times a month. i know a guy who's welded tons of diffs and they all hold up, so i'm not worried about that.

i'd rather not have to change axles every time i swap it, cuz i'd rather not have to drive around town with a welded diff.

why do you want an open diff for drifting?

A welded open diff, becomes a locked diff. A real pita to drive on the street and turn, without scrubbing or squealing the tires. Can be a lot of fun though, as easily as the rear end will step out.

^ did you read his last post? He is goign to weld the diff... so both sides spin at the same time.. pretty common in the drag racing and drifting.

I dunno, driving a car with a welded diff pisses me the hell off. We have one on the shop drag car and it's a bitch to turn. Even if I were drifting I'd still want some amount of handling to be able to you know... drive...

if you're drifting the stock lsd should work. you could always buy a two way and not have to worry about switching it in and out all the time.

yeah i know a 2-way aftermarket lsd would be sick, but hmmm

i could pay for all my events this spring and summer for the price of one. then there's overhauling it every so often too.

i know 2 guys who run welded diffs on the street and don't complain. just have to remember not to smash the gas on u-turns

i'm not trying to be ghetto, just practical. i can get free tires forever so i don't really care about that.

There are no TII Open diff's in america that aren't imported.

You will have to either swap the entire differential and axels to an N/a to have an open diff or buy an open diff from Euro-spec TII's

Your in the USA, you will NOT find a open diff TII rear 3rd member in a junk yard. It has to come from Europe as what has already been said ALL USA Turbo II cars came with a LSD be it clutch 87-88 or viscous 89-91 (and apparently, Europe got open diff's *shrug*). the only open diff thats from an RX-7 that will bolt in is from a N/A car, then you'll need a custom drive shaft (I hear a auto shaft works) AND you'll need axles from a n/a aside from the 3rd member/pumkin/diff assembly. Now if theres something other then an Rx-7 diff assembly that will bolt in the TII rear member, I don't know of any.

So.... you plan on swapping out the entire rear 3rd member each time you want to drive on the street, then swap it out for drift events??? man thats a lot of work, ever remove a 3rd member? its no walk in the park.

LOL i wasn't trying to get a TII open diff from europe. i don't want the headache of trying to track one down.

i meant the whole pumpkin from a US car.

can anyone verify that the auto driveshaft works?
